ByIndia which combines blogging, social networking, auctioning and video features on a single portal has been acquired by Web2 Corp. ByIndia.com caters to all sort of customers online. They bring together the most popular concepts of social networking a la MySpace, search and auctioning like eBay.
Chairman and CEO of Web2 Corp William Mobley said "We believe we are in early with a great product. India is a massive market that is gaining economic footing and ByIndia.com is the best product available for this audience. We plan to improve upon it. We see a Baidu-like opportunity to create the definitive community for this vast population."
By acquiring the ByIndia, Web2corp has a strong arm to capitalize on India's fastest growing online community. In a recently concluded survey, reports suggested that India would go on to be the largest online community by 2010. So, Web2 Corp have definitely got their cards right and take giant steps in the growing market in India. Mobley further adds " "Why learn four or five products when you can learn one?" Indeed, if the services ByIndia.com provides is anything worth its salt, there is stopping this Indian search engine.

ByIndia.com started off as an intuitive by a small group of Indian programmers. It was designed to understand the cultural and language issues of India. Right from the start ByIndia.com was aiming for the future. The initial developers of ByIndia.com had to face storms as there was an acute shortage of server capacity in India and of course network operations problems to deal with. The also had to do major marketing to make consumers realize the value of their offering. ByIndia.com wanted to raise the bar for future Internet entrepreneurs and they achieved it. The portal can experienced a steep rise in traffic and site rankings since Web2 initiated expanded test programs in September.
Future plans include Web 2.0 based elements like syndicate advertising, video, classified and so on similarly like Google, YouTube and others.
The recently launched India's so-called answer to Google, Guruji.com has been left far behind in the race. ByIndia.com has re-wriiten the rules of search engines and it will take Guruji.com to take something to overtake them. By the way, ByIndia has made a mockery of Guruji.com's claim that they were the "first" search engine to index Indians websites. ByIndia's very own search engine, YouGetIt indexing beats Guruji by more than a year.
