Apple launches "iMac for Education"
Apple has announced a new iMac which is specifically designed for educational purposes. The "iMac for education" features a 17inch wide-screen LCD and is priced at $899.
The "imac for education" features a 1.83 GHz Intel Core Duo processor. Apple has also included a built-in iSight video camera in the computer. The Apple imac for education also has iLife '06 which is Apple's next generation suite of digital lifestyle applications. The suite includes iPhoto, iMovie HD, iDVD, GarageBand, and iWeb.
Apple believes that its top-of-the-line design and simplicity will make it a favourite for the classrooms and dorm rooms.
The iMac for education also has a Combodrive for running DVDs and burning CDs. It features a 512MB of 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM memory and it can be expanded to 2GB. The hard drive space is 160 GB.
The Operating system featured in the iMac for education is Mac OS X version 10.4.6 "Tiger" including Safari, Mail, iCal, iChat AV, Front Row, and Photo Booth. The Apple iMac for Education can be bought from the Apple Store for education at www.apple.com/education/store.
