Sony releases the HDR-UX1 and Sony HDR-SR1 high-end camcorders
Sony has launched two high-end camcorders which are loaded wit tons of features to make the home theater fans happy. The new camcorders, Sony HDR-UX1 and Sony HDR-SR1 claim to be the first camcorders to record movies in full 1080i HD resolution. More than that, they record movies in Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound.
Though both the camcorders, the Sony HDR-UX1 and Sony HDR-SR1 are clearly meant for high-profile users, both the camcorders suit different needs. While the Sony HDR-UX1 records in 3 inch recordable DVDs, the Sony HDR-SR1 comes with a 30GB built-in hard drive.
The Sony HDR-UX1 and Sony HDR-SR1 camcorders has HDMI outputs to connect to HD televisions. Both the camcordes support AVCHD format based on MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 codec for video compression and Dolby digital audio. Both the camcorders feature a a 3.5 inch swivel touchscreen TFT and are also equipped with Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T lens, which gives life-like colours.
The camera included is a 4 mega-pixel digital still capture and the Dual Record feature lets you shoot movies and simultaneously, 2.3 mega-pixel still images. The Sony HDR-UX1 camcorder is priced at $1,400 and will go on sale from September 2006 onwards. The Sony HDR-SR1 camcorder will go on sale from October onwards and is priced at $1,500.
