AMD LIVE! PC from Alienware and Dell
The Live! PCs use AMD's Athlon 64 X 2 dual core chip.
Intel's rival AMD today announced the availability of new AMD LIVE! PC's from Alienware and Dell. AMD has now expanded the options for consumers to help today's digital lifestyle. So what’s the AMD LIVE! all about?
It is a full-fledged media center computer, which is powered by the award winning AMD Athlon 64 X2 dual-core processor. It is created to enrich consumer's experiences when enjoying digital movies, music and photos.
AMD has gone a step ahead and introduced additions and enhancements to their new offering. A collection of valuable services and applications designed to enhance the PC experience. The PC comes alive with three new exciting softwares– AMD LIVE! Communicator, AMD LIVE! Games and AMD LIVE! Kid Rocket. This is in addition to – have been added to the Entertainment Suite, expanding an already substantial software bundle provided with the PC.
Corporate Vice President of AMD’s Consumer Business Joe Menard said the AMD LIVE! is continuously generating momentum and excitement as more manufactures offer the AMD LIVE! PC's worldwide. He further added that the consumers have gone for the simple digital media experience as it is evidenced by growing market for AMD LIVE! PC solutions. This comes in awake of the annoucement that Dell plans to a powerful new Dimesion media center PC with AMD LIVE! technology. Dell's Director of Dimension and XPS desktop product marketing said that as a the front runner of leading supplier of high-performance multimedia computers, Dell delivers innovative technology and services that consumers trust and value. He added that innovative technologies like AMD LIVE ! delivered on Dimension PC's go on to demonstrate the power of dualcore to consumers to access and manage their music, videos and photos where and when they want.
Alienware on the other hand is not far behind in making annoucements either. Alienware is expected to provide demonstrations of the Alienware HS high-definition media center. This is a sleek new AMD LIVE! PC design, which features a high-power, integrated home theater amplifier from D2Audio Corporation.
Alienware has partnered with NVIDIA for graphics. The graphics are powered by the Microsoft Windows "Vista Ready" NVIDIA nForce 430 with GeForce 6150 graphics to enable high-definition video playback. Senior Vice President of Alienware's Product Group Frank Azor said that the DHS media center with AMD LIVE ! technology shows the companys commitment to the concept that that digital living room is quickly becoming a reality. Alienware's Cool and Sleek design coupled with AMD LIVE! dual-core technology spells in an entertainment solution that is perfectly suited for the home, den or bedroom.
AMD designed the AMD LIVE! Entertainment Suite to be an open platform which would be capable of working with many existing consumer electronics devices. It also helps to enhance and enrich the experience of AMD LIVE ! consumers. AMD has worked closely with many software companies in designing their applications as innovative and reliable as possible.
Consumers can expect a slew of new softwares in the Entertainment Suite. So what are these softwares all about?

* AMD LIVE! Communicator. The Communicator does what it says ! It is powered by SightSpeed and offers state-of-the-art video and voice communications over the Internet. It allows families and friends to stay connected no matter where they live.
* AMD LIVE! Games powered by WildTangent. It delivers a great gaming experience to the consumers. It also offers with a wealth of exciting online and downloadable games.
* AMD LIVE! Kid Rocket Web Browser. More a parental control browser for children exploring the Internet in a safe environment. It also offers the ability to play online games. |
AMD LIVE! has new features in the AMD LIVE! Media Vault powered by Streamload. Streamload automatically takes file backup to an online account. It also does file synchronization between networked PCs and devices. Consumers will now be able to easily digital files such as photos or home movies between a desktop and notebook PC. It also gives them the easy to preserve their precious photos, videos and music without the hassle of manual uploads.
Curuently AMD LIVE is being offered by leading OEM's which include Acer, Alienware, Dell, Fujitsu Siemens Computers, Gateway, HP, Tsinghua Tongfang and ZT Group, among others.
There was no news as to when this would be made available to the masses and how much it will cost. The AMD LIVE will be demoed at this week's DigitalLife show in New York. So watch out folks !
