Nintendo may launch Wii early

According to reports, Nintendo may launch Wii much before its expected November launch, when the PS3 will be launched.

According to CNN Money, Nintendo may launch its next-generation console, Wii, earlier than expected. Industry watchers had expected Wii to be launched at the same time as Sony's PS3, which is scheduled to be launched on November 17. Now, industry watchers feel that Wii may be launched as early as October or September 2006.

Apparently, Nintendo is already manufacturing final retail units of the Wii, says a report in American Technology Research, which points towards an early October launch.

Although, Nintendo is not acknowledging any early dates, most industry watchers are convinced otherwise.

Nintendo's early manufacturing will give it an advantage over Sony which has yet to begin final manufacturing of PlayStation 3. Also, Microsoft's Xbox and PS3 are not expected to meet demand. Therefore, if Nintendo does manage to release early, it will be able to capture the market and sell out fast.

Nintendo's Wii is expected to be priced at $250. This price point is much below the price points of PS3 and Xbox. PS3 is priced at $499 and $599 for its two versions. The two versions of Xbox 360 are priced at $299 and $399.

According to CNN money, Nintendo has yet to announce the complete list of games but it has confirmed that two games, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, will be available with Wii.
