Plen - the Skateboarding robot

Plen is Bluetooth-enabled and and can turn a mean trick or two on a skateboard.

A robot which can be controlled by the Bluetooth of your mobile phone has gone on sale. The Skateboarding robot named Plen is now available in Japan.

Plen is a small robot with only 23cms height, but the flexibility of the robot is above average. The power for Plen comes from a 32 bit ARM7 CPU at 33MHz. The Plen contains 18 movable joints and thus offers a greater amount of flexibility.

Plen can be connected and controlled by the PC via a USB. But the good thing about Plen is that, it can be controlled by a Bluetooth enabled mobile phone. The contents of the kit include a Lithum ion battery pack, charger and a USB cable to connect with the PC. A pair of Roller Skates are also included in the kit.

The battery is not so powerful, it saves power for just 25 minutes of walking time for Plen. The company is manufacturing only 50 quantities and the Plen is priced at 262,500 Yen for Japan.
