Dell XPS PCs to come with Skype

Skype to come pre-installed on some Dell XPS PCs.

The latest mobile entertainment PCs from Dell will come with pre-installed Skype Internet Telephony software. Dell offers two new XPS desktops models- the M1210 and M2010. The software will be given as an option with these two models.

Both the systems have a 20-inch high-definition display and integrated Web Cam. The systems can be configured with Skype software as an audio-video communications package. The products from Skype are meant for video and Internet calling.

Don Albert, director of business development in North America for Skype, said, "Dell represents a new distribution channel for Skype. New products from Dell will complement the breadth of hardware designed for the convenience of Skype callers."

The VoIp service from Skype for PC to PC calls are available as free of cost. Skype is owned by eBay, which is based in California.

Dell had recently launched the XPS mobile computers with a starting price of US$3,500. Dell had earlier made a deal with search engine company Google and the future PCs from Dell will come with pre-installed Google search engine.
The financial details of the Skype-Dell deal is not known.
