eBay to merge with Microsoft?
Unbelievable rumors are circulating that eBay may merge with Microsoft.
Rumours are spreading like wildfire after The New York Post has reported about a possible eBay takeover by Microsoft. The New York Post had quoted multiple sources for the report. The report was out just after eBay signed an agreement with Yahoo.
The report said that Microsoft is planning to buy eBay and merge it with its portal, MSN. It also reported that the discussions had cooled somewhat after the executives tokk into consideration the antitrust issues associated with it.
It was reported that Microsoft had talked with AOL on the same matter last year but it had failed. The report says that Microsoft turned its attention to both yahoo and eBay after its talks with AOL failed. The report goes further saying that Bill Gates considered Yahoo as a content company and eBay as a technology company. Since Gates was not interested in owning a content company, the attention turned naturally to eBay.
The report that Microsoft is considering the possible acquisition of eBay, the online auction site has created a buzz among the Internet followers. It is said that the move by the software giant is to take heads on with its rival, Google. The story also says that the impact of Yahoo and eBay agreement on the talks is also not known.
