Apple and Nike to sell iPod shoes

Nike Air Max Moto+ amd Air Zoom Moire will be able to communicate to iPod.

Apple and Nike have signed a deal which targets both iPod users and Nike runners. Using the iPod you would be able to understand the data collected by your Nike shoes. So far, the only thing iPod was meant for was - music. Now, your iPod is your coach and your personal trainer.

You require two things other than your shoes and nano. A small in-shoe sensor and an iPod receiver. The sensor is 0.23 ounce and the receiver is 0.12 ounce, which can be connected to the iPod.

The prices for the Nike+iPod compatible shoes start from US$85 (Air Max Moto+, available 1 June) to US$130 (Air Zoom Moire, 13 July). The shoe sensor and the receiver are part of a Nike+iPod sport sit, which comes at a price of US$ 30. 

Using the iPod+Nike combination, you would be able to get information on time, distance, calories burned and pace. These data can then be stored in the iPod. Well, if you want real time stats, then turn on your iPod and the information can be displayed on screen. Or else, you can hear it through your earphones. We can transfer the stored data to a Mac too. The signal used is a 2.3 GHz signal to transfer information between the shoe and the iPod.
