Nintendo Touch Generations brand to attract casual gamers
Nintendo DS to be rebranded as Touch Generations, to get new
games to attract casual gamers.
Nintendo is planning to have a bigger bite of the gaming market with its new brand of games - Touch Generations. Nintendo says the new set of games will be more easy to play and will attract casual gamers into the world of gaming.
But isn't that what the Nintendo Wii is supposed to do?
Ah, we see. The Touch Generations brand is just a bunch of games for the Nintendo DS. Only thing is, Nintendo knows that the media and market now speaks its language, and wants to keep that old gaming platform alive by bringing a bunch of new Touch Generations games to it - hopefully using the lessons from its Wii experience.
The games in Touch Generations are specifically intended for those who do not have experience in the world of gaming. So all are not going for the new next generation console it is planning to offer, the Nintendo Wii? Isn't Wii also supposed to bring casual gamers into gaming? Come on, dont't ask stupid questions in the middle of a rebranding exercise.
The price for Touch Generations will be under $250. The price and the features would be of interest to the customer, hopes Nintendo. The new game console will feature an innovative controller, which is aimed at a larger demographic.
Nintendo will also start a multi-million dollar ad campaign to boost these initiatives from the company. Touch Generations will include four games which were released previously and three new games which will be released in June. The four games which will come under Touch Generations are "Brain Age," "Tetris DS," "Swing Golf" and "Nintendogs".
Nintendo will release a new game called "Brain Academy" on June 5 and another game called "Magnetica", which is a puzzle game. "Sudoku Grandmaster", will be released by Nintendo on June 26th.
George Harrison, Senior marketing vice-president manager, Americas, said,"We remain committed to turning video games into an inclusive mass medium that everyone can enjoy. Touch Generations will help novices and newcomers identify the fun and uniquely engaging experiences that are available only on Nintendo DS."
