Nintendo Wii sweeps critics awards at E3 2006

Nintento's innovative motion sensing controller helps the Wii grab critics' awards at E3 2006.

Nintendo Wii has been awarded the the prize for the best in show at the Electronics Entertainment Expo 2006- E3. The expectations are high on the yet to be released game console from Nintendo.

The E3 event was held at Los Angeles. In the market, Nintendo Wii have to face Sony Platstation 3 and the high-end game console from Microsoft, the XBox 360. Both are considered to be much more superior than Nintendo Wii in terms of technology and graphics features.

The critics awards will be a boost for the Nintendo Wii as it is sure to get more attraction than other game consoles. Nintendo has received applauds from various quarters for its motion sensor controller, which is expected to be a revolutionary one. Using their body actions, the controller can be used like a knife, a bow or anything that the game demands.

Geoff Keighley, co-chairman of the Game Critics Awards, said, "It's a great story and it's something different."

Nintendo Wii bagged the awards for the best hardware, the best sports titles, the best racing game for Excite Truck and best handheld game for Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass for the Nintendo DS.
