Nintendo Wii console priced below $250

Nintendo Wii is expected to be the cheapest of the next generation gaming consoles.

Though the exact pricing is not yet out, the approximate price for the Nintendo Wii console is out. The Wii will cost 25000 yen in Japan and $250 in the U.S. The announced price is a lot cheaper than the price of its competitor, Sony Playstation 3.

The other popular video game XBox 360 from Microsoft costs $299.99 and $399.99 in the U.S. There was speculation that the new game console from Microsoft would be more expensive because of the high price of Playstation 3. Nintendo consoles have historically been cheaper than the other gaming consoles.

Yasuhiro Minagawa, spokesman, Nintendo said, "our offerings are always affordable."

Nintendo Wii, which is all set to go on sale in November is expected to face tough competition from Sony's Playstation and Microsoft XBox 360.

Nintendo Wii gaming console has a revolutionary motion sensing controller minus the complex buttons. It can be used just like a sword or like a fishing rod. Nintendo is planning to sell 6 million Wiis by March 2007. Sony is also targetting 6 million Playstations by 2007. At the same time, Microsoft expects to sell 10 million XBox 360s by the end of 2006.

Nintendo hopes that the ease of use of the Nintendo Wii and the controller will attract more non-gamers towards its console.
