Windows Live Onecare from Microsoft
Windows Live Onecare promises hassle free security and freedom.
Microsoft has launched the final version of Windows Live OneCare after testing it with 200000 users. It can either be purchased in any of the retail chains or can be downloaded from
www.onecare.live.com . The product offers a 90 day free trial and also has a version for three computers, whichi costs $49.95 per year.
The basic components of a security suite such as antivirus, firewall and antispyware protection are included in Windows Live OneCare. It also enhances the system performance and can be configured to make local backups of important files.
OneCare ensures a Windows XP system is maintained and protected without wasting too much user's time. Automatic updation, fine tuning the system, virus scanning and suggesting the backup of files are some of the things that it does. Says Bill Gates, "This 'just take care of it' experience enables customers to focus on what they really care about, which is to be able to sit down at their PCs and enjoy their digital lifestyles."
If some problems happen with the system, then the users can seek expert help by e-mail, phone or live chat without any extra charge. Windows Defender, which was formerly called Microsoft Windows Antispyware also comes with OneCare, but has to be downloaded separately.
Though the backup feature in Windows Live OneCare is still capacity limited, it serves a lot of purpose especially when you are running on auto scanning. The files can be backup-ed to CD, DVD, or to an external hard drive.
