Microsoft set to issue a dozen software patches
Nine of the patches aim to fix glitches related to Windows Operating System.
Redmond: Microsoft Corporation, the world's largest software maker, is all set to release about a dozen security alerts, as part of the firm's monthly software updates.
Microsoft said some of the alerts it plans to release have the highest risk rating . The move is a measure to rein in crucial flaws in its software. Nine of the patches Microsoft plans to release are related to its Windows operating system, the Seattle, Redmond, based firm confirmed.
Microsoft revealed that two patches it would release would fix glitches in its Microsoft Office productivity software.
Microsoft said in its website that the last patch would be for the company's Exchange e-mail server software.
The e-mail server software allows its users to communicate through computer networks through e-mails, along with other forms of communication. It may be recalled that Microsoft's Windows operating system is the program on almost 90 per cent of the computers in the world. The company issues patches on a monthly basis to fix software glitches. This a monthly affair and is released through its security bulletin.
Microsoft describes software flaws as critical only when it perceives them to be vulnerable so as to allow Internet worms to replicate it without any user actions. Microsoft has put in massive efforts in the past three years, as software targeting flaws in Windows as well as other Microsoft programs sprouted with alarming alacrity, in a bid to improve the security as well as reliability of the firm.
