Microsoft gets into social networking with MS Wallop.

Who doesn't love the good ol' underdogs coming out winners in the end? Here’s another story!

Wallop, a long forgotten Microsoft Research "sandbox" social network and photo-sharing project was given a new lease on life in California recently.

The good news is that Microsoft has no plans to put up advertising on the Wallop site, unlike the other social networks. Wallop has created a marketplace for" self-expression" items on the site. Music clips, Widgets, Avatars and so on will be on sale. Wallop plans to handle payments and takes 30% of the sale price and the rest goes to the individual seller. I might as well add here, that they need to monitor the content being sold by "expressive" individuals!

The marketplace strategy for Wallop is still being built, but Microsoft claims that they have the ability for sellers to create auction sales for one of kind items, limited edition sales, and so on in the near future.

Invited users will be given five invitations each that can be used to invite others into Wallop. More invitations will pour in given based on how much the users are active in the service. MS Wallop is in beta stage currently and will open to the general public in early 2007.

With a growing number of Social Networking sites, Microsoft's Wallop is offering its users what others could just think of! Wallop looks very yummy too! Take a look.
