12 Gb ipod Nano coming in Q4 2006
Gartner and American Technology Research analysts predict that the next iPod Nano will be 12 GB, and it would be available by December 2006. Well, they weren't that specific, they asid that it would be a 10-12 GB Nano, and Q4 2006. Pretty much the same thing.
The 12 GB Nano though was not supposed to be that long in coming. It seems that Apple is moving over to chipsets from a new unnamed supplier in lieu of the current PortalPlayer chipsets, and this is leading to a slight delay. The news led to Apple's shares taking a hit in the stock market - but frankly, from the consumer's point of veiw, we should not give two hoots.
What we should care about is the news that Apple's long expected true Video Ipod is also getting delayed, and that it might finally make its appearance only in Q1 2007. Now, that is a new product, and new products getting delayed is a bit disappointing for gadget freaks. But another iPod Nano getting delayed? No way. There are all those iPods in the market at all kinds of capacities and features and they are good fo the time being, if you ask us!
