Is this a viral video, some sorta commercial for the MS Zune? Many think so.

Microsoft Zune music player confirmed
After a month of rumors, Microsoft comes clean and has admitted that the MS Zune music player will be released this year to take on iPod.

This picture looks... err, okay. If this is the Zune, potential buyers might drop dead in showrooms. Maybe even looking at this picture! Anyway, I expect this to be a picture of some initial version of the Zune, and will probably be evolving right now. Don't be surprised if the final Zune pictures don't look anything like this - but for now, this is the only pic that anyone has got.

At last, the mystery behind the iPod killer is out. Microsoft's answer to Apple's market leading music player, the iPod, could well be Microsoft Argo. Some sites on the Net have already published some photos of what could be Microsoft's wireless music player. The wireless XBox branded portable media player will be fitted with the most advanced technologies available in the planet today. Those companies who were Microsoft's friends could well be their enemies when Microsoft's Argo hits the shelves. But going by facts, Microsoft is in no mood to dance to the tunes of its yesterday's friends, when it comes to beating their old enemy, Apple.

The name of the MS music player is still a bit of a mystery - Argo could be the code name of the project, and the real name could be Zune.

The mission to manufacture the iPod killer is said to be "Project Argo" in the Microsoft circles. The sites who have published the pictures of Microsoft Argo music player claims that they got these pictures from an insider working on the Argo project.

From its first looks, the Argo looks pretty descent. Well, the screen appears to be a bit larger than the video iPod and the screen may well be of 4:3 aspect ratio. The screen may be a 3.5 inches wide one. But the rumours are to be believed, this could well be any one of Microsoft's portables.

Why do Microsoft' products lack the mysterious nature of Apple's projects? The Apple iPod was developed under heavy security and even the nature of the player was unknown. But the details of Microsoft's iPod killer "Argo" are already out. ( well, the truth can be different). Industry experts say this is because of the work culture prevailing in the two companies.

The large screen of Microsoft Argo would come handy when viewing music videos and films. Also playing games will be a lot more pleasant if the screen is large. Going by Microsoft's standards, none would expect the iPod killer "Argo" wouldn't have altleast one technology that the iPod lacks.

There are also unconfirmed reports that the Microsoft Argo will have a variety of different models, something which the iPod lacks.

Looking at the Argo / Zune photos that are circulating right now, one is not too impressed - but the final version due for launch anytime now could sport a different look too. We will post more pictures on this page as they become available.
