Adobe products to distribute Google toolbar
Some of Adobe's products will have Google's toolbar from now onwards. Adobe will distribute Google toolbar immediately starting with the downloads of Macromedia Shockwave Player.
When the Shockwave player is installed, users will get an option whether to add Google toolbar to the Internet
Explorer browser, said Adobe. The agreement between Adobe and Google is a multiyear agreement. Apart from
Shockwave player, other products from Adobe will also have the option to install Google toolbar.
Though Adobe has declined to give the financial details of the agreement, Adobe expects to get a significant increase in its revenues from the agreement. Adobe is distributing a competing
toolbar from yahoo in its Adobe Reader and Flash player products. Adobe does not distribute Microsoft products.
In addition to providing the primary function of a search engine in the toolbar, they also provide several online services using shortcuts and utilities. Since users can search directly from their
toolbars, many search engines are showing keen interest in distributing search engines through toolbars.
Adobe and Google compete with Microsoft in different fronts. Microsoft had recently pulled a row with Adobe over its decision to exclude PDF format from its Office 2007.
