Yahoo's Flickr in copyright violation tangle

20 May 2007

Yahoo's popular photo sharing website Flickr has been accused of copyright violation. A photographer who found out that some of her photos were sold by a UK based online gallery has approached Yahoo on this issue.

Yahoo later apologised for the mistake, but the issue has raised questions on copyright protection in the online digital age.

The photographer who published the photos on Flickr has rights to copyright protection, and Flickr states that people cannot use the photos without copyright protection.

The photographer alleges that the stolen photos were taken from the website, but she was refused payment for the same, which comes to around EUR 2500.
