Google launches Checkout to make e-commerce easier
Google will launch an online payment service, called the Google Checkout which will help users to make easy payments on the Net. Analysts believe that this service could help the online merchants to boost their sales. This will in turn mean more advertising money to Google.
The Google Checkout service will initially be available only in the United States. The Google Checkout is also called as GBuy or Google Wallet. Google Checkout promises to act as an easy way to add a checkout to the sites of online sellers.
Announcing the new service, Google said that Checkout will store names, shipping and credit card information and eliminates the need for consumers to resubmit that data with each purchase. Since Google is responsible for processing credit card payments and
keeping the data safe, the users can sleep peacefully.
Salar Kamangar, vice president, product management, Google told Reuters, "We think we're making e-commerce a lot more efficient and easier to use."
Microsoft also has an online wallet called the Passport which was released some years ago. But it ran into a lot of trouble as privacy issues and security problems and it failed to deliver what it promised.
