Mozilla's Firefox 2.0 Beta 1 candidate released

Mozilla's Firefox 2.0 Beta 1 candiate called Bon Echo has been released with many new features.

The candidate for the Firefox 2.0 Beta 1 has been released. The official release that was expected to take place on July 11 has been postponed.

The Beta candidate has been name Bon Echo.

The interface of Firefox 2.0 remains mostly the same. New features include: anti-phishing technology and a built-in spell checker. The spell-checker will help those who regularly blog and post on forums. Unlike IEspell (Internet Explorer) users will not need to activate the spell checker. The spell checker will automatically highlight spelling mistakes with a dotted line.

The anti-phishing filter in 2.0 Beta 1 checks sites against locally stored lists of bad sites along with Google's site listing. In the future, there will be options to use anti-phishing sites other than Google.

Firefox 2.0 beta 1 will allow users to scroll the tab bar horizontally. They will also be able to close a tab directly from within the tab itself using small x boxes.

The Options dialog box now has a horizontal, tab-based interface. Many improvements have been made under the hood.

Versions of the new browser will be available for Windows, Linux and Mac OS X.

Flock 1.0 social browser soon
Flock 1.0, which enables you to share photos and bookmarks with friends, will be out soon.
