Samsung launches the SCH-A990 phone

Samsung and Verizon Wireless have launched the SCH-A990 that has an advanced 3.2 megapixel digital camera.

Samsung and Verizon Wireless have launched SCH-A990, its first 3.2 megapixel camera phone. Launched in the US, the SCH-A990 will allow users to take high-resolution pictures.

The 3.2 megapixel digital camera has features such as Zoom, flash, auto focus capabilities, picture editor, and PictBridge Digital Printing.

The design of SCH-A990 is such that it looks like a usual mobile phone but when it is twisted by 180 degrees it looks like a camera. The SCH-A990 is aimed at photography enthusiasts who want more features in their integrated cameras. Therefore, the print quality of pictures is as good as that of digital cameras.

Other features of the SCH-A990 include video recording capabilities, V CAST to view video and V CAST Music that allows users to download music to their phones and play it. Users will be able to play music over the Verizon Wireless’ broadband network or from the Verizon Wireless V CAST Music online store.

The V CAST features provide gaming facilities as well. Users will be able to download games from different providers. The SCH-A990 also has Bluetooth wireless technology.

The SCH-A990 also has business card scan capability, TXT, PIX, and FLIX Messaging capabilities, advanced speech recognition, and expandable memory.

The SCH-A990 will retail in stores from July 24, 2006. The SCH-A990 will be priced at USD349.99. This is after a rebate of $50 which comes with a two-year contract.
