Incheon Tower, world's second tallest building to be set up in Korea

The Koreans are all set to get the world's second tallest building, the Incheon Tower. The tower will be built by the Portman Consortium at the Songdo International City in the Incheon Free Economic Zone.

Once the construction of the tower is finished, the Incheon Tower will be the world's secong tallest building with 151 floors. Three sky bridges will connect the Incheon tower and the Incheon Tower will have a shopping mall, offices, hotes and a convention center. 

The Koreans are trying to convert the 1500 acres of reclaimed land to a major business hub for Northeast Asia and the construction of such a huge building is said to be an effort to attain the dream of the Koreans. The project will be completed in phases and the total cost is estimated to be worth $11 billion. The project will be done in phases.

The Incheon Tower is expected to near completion by August 2010. Once the Incheon Tower is built, the city of Incheon will be battle the likes of world class cities like Shanghai and Dubai. The only tower which is taller than the Incheon Tower is 160 stories Birj Dubai, which is under construction in the Gulf state.
