Symantec launches "Confidential" for safer online transactions

Symantec launches Confidential and Norton Trustmark for online transactions.

Symantec is all set to regain the confidence of customers in online shopping and banking. Symantec has plans to launch a service that will ensure customers both safety and confidence, when they do online transactions.

The new product from Symantec, called Symantec Confidential, will keep users away from fraud and suspected sites. The product will also authenticate specific valid sites and foil any active "crimeware" processes that might monitor secure transactions. The Symantec Confidential will also save passwords and usernames for specific sites and will warn the user if those details are used in any other sites.

Symantec is launching the Confidential not as a replacement to a spyware or an antivirus, but as a compliment for secure online transactions. Bill Rosenkrantz, Director of Product Management said that now the customers are aware about phishing and identity theft are serious matters and have to be carefully monitored. He also said that what the customers want is a system which tells them that what you are doing is ok and not a system which alerts you when something goes wrong.

Symantec Confidential has carefully monitored and analyzed certain high-profile sites and will authenticate the sites for the user when he accesses it. Symantec will give those sites that can be trusted with a "Norton Trustmark". The users would be able to continue what they are doing in those sites with confidence.

Together with the launch of Symantec Confidential, Symantec has also launched TransactSafely Web site (www.symantec.com/transactsafely ), a site which gives you tips when you are doing online transactions. From mid-July onwards, users of this site would be able to download a public beta version of Norton Confidential and the user will also have the option to offer feedbacks.
