Chevolet Spark, Renault Logan, Fiat Palio Stile among
six new cars for India
April - May 2007 will see the entry of Chevrolet Spark,
Mahindra Renault Logan, Hyundai Getz Prime, Nissan Teana,
Fiat Palio Stile and Porsche Cayenne into the Indian market.
4 May 2007It's showering cars, with April 2007 witnessing
the release of six new cars in the Indian car consumer
market. Arguably, it is the first time in India that six
cars are making their entry into the market, almost at the
same time. The cars that are expected to be released in the
months of April and May are Chevrolet Spark, Mahindra
Renault Logan, Hyundai Getz Prime, Nissan Teana, Fiat Palio
Stile and Porsche Cayenne.
Chevrolet Spark
Chevrolet has launched the new Chevrolet Spark in India
at a competitive starting price of Rs 3.09 lakhs. The
Chevrolet Spart, a cute number, does not have too many
similarities with the Daewoo Matiz, once described as the
beauty of the small car segment. Both the Chevrolet Spark
and Matiz are two cars that are made from the same platform.
The Chevrolet Spark will have the following features, new
headlamp, bumpers, new dash and new engine too. To replace
the 800 cc 52 bhp three cylinder engine, the Spark will
feature a 1000 cc 65bhp 4 cylinder engine, Euro 4.
Hyundai Getz Prime
Hyundai Getz Prime is the new edition of Hyundai Getz,
the hugely popular small car. New features include grills,
foglamps and headlamps. The Hyundai Getz Prime will also
boast of Hyundai Santro's 1.1 engine.
The Petrol 4 cylinder 66.6bhp engine promises to deliver 14
kmpl. For those who need more power, Hyundai has introduced
1.3 petrol 82.9 bhp. The Hyundai Prime Getz 1.1 model is
priced between Rs 3.89 -5.24.
Fiat Palio Stile
Fiat has launched its new Palio Style in two petrol
versions, Palio Stile 1.1 (SL, SLE and SLX variant) and
Palio Stile 1.6 sport. Designwise, the Palio has not changed
much but for a new front bumper and a wider grille. The new
grilles have similarities with Voxwagen and the double-barelled
headlamps remind us of Mercedes. There is no change in the
engine and price for the new Fiat Palio Stile.
Mahindra Renault Logan
Mahindra Renault Logan is creating waves in the Indian
consumer car market. Renault Logan rolls out models
including Petrol 1.4, 1.6 models and Diesel 1.5 model. The
Renault Logan CRDI diesel is priced at Rs 5.44 lakh to Rs
6.44 lakh. When it comes to mileage, Mahindra Renault Logan
scores high with an 18kmpl for diesel and 13kmpl for petrol.
Nissan Teana
Nissan Teana is the first car to be launched in India by
Nissan. The Nissan Teana is approximately priced at Rs 20
lakh. The engine included is 2300cc petrol. Nissan plans to
sell almost 250 cars in India.
Porsche Cayenne
The Porsche Cayenne is priced around Rs 50 lakh. Porsche
plans to sell 150 cars per year in India. The maximum price
of Porsche Cayenne is 250 km/hr. The engine is 3200 cc
petrol all wheel drive.
